Matt F. grew up in Tucson, Arizona. He traded desert heat for Pacific
Northwest damp, where he was a G. Herbert Smith scholar at Willamette
University.
In the 1990s he founded artsoregon, an alternative arts journal; began the
Spare Room, an experimental gallery; and worked on a series of projects
involving medieval siege engines and the international mail art network.
With masters degrees in studio art and art history, Matt teaches at New
York University and Parsons School of Design. He lives in Pleasantville,
New York, with his wife, an art historian, and his young daughter.
